Thought - the best gift that God has given us

People sometimes tell me, ‘The more I think, the more I reflect, the unhappier I become. So that’s it, I’m not going to rack my brains any more, I will simply let things take their course.’ Well, this is a recipe for failure. The capacity to think, to reason and reflect, is the best gift God has given us. Why would we want to do away with it? It would be just like walking blindfold along the edge of a cliff. Of course, to think and understand often causes us to suffer, but it is the only way to evolve. In reality, there are two kinds of thought: one that brings grief and suffering (because we have not learned how to think or what to think about) and one that brings peace and joy. Analyze yourselves and you will see that this is so. Therefore, try to entertain only thoughts that will help you to stand tall.*
