Discouragement - ‘It won’t last’ for after winter comes the spring>

When you feel prey to discouragement, the first thing to do is to tell yourself, ‘It won’t last.’ Take refuge for a while in a corner of your inner being, as though you were hibernating, and stay there until you feel the breath of life again. Discouragement is like winter, but after winter comes spring. Some years, spring comes earlier than others, and sometimes it comes very late—but it always comes in the end. This is why you must never lose hope. Sooner or later your optimism and energy will return. So many people give up just moments before the forces of spring start to flow again, and that is such a shame! They were finally about to be saved, but they succumbed because they failed to sense the forces of renewal. So, however great your torment, never allow your inner skies to darken completely. Say to yourself: ‘Perhaps all is not lost. I’ll hang on a little longer.’ And little by little the darkness will recede, and you will begin to feel warm again.
