He who wishes to enter the realm of divine Providence must …
He who wishes to enter the realm of divine Providence must become a worker in the field of the Lord. Then when his creditors, which is to say the cosmic moral laws he has transgressed, come to find him and demand that he pay his debts or be dragged into court, the Lord will reply: ‘Leave him alone, he is my servant. – Yes, but he has debts to pay! – What debts? For how much? – He has committed such and such an offence, he has broken such and such a rule. – I understand, but he is my worker, he works for me; leave quietly and I will pay his debts.’ Because God is just, he does not chase away the creditors who have legitimate demands; he simply tells them: ‘I will pay for him, go in peace.’ Of course, this little dialogue between the Lord and the creditors is symbolic. It means that we are always saved by our spiritual work.
