Never, under any circumstance, resign yourself to becoming …

Never, under any circumstance, resign yourself to becoming worn down and demoralized. Strive to adopt the state of wonder, dilatation and lightness that gives you wings. Birds instinctively know that in order to fly they must spread their wings. So why is it that birds have discovered this secret and human beings remain bogged down, becoming more tense and sluggish by the day, burying themselves deeper and deeper? Obviously because they are not as intelligent as birds. You will say: 'I feel strange; I don't feel like doing anything any more. - Well, it's because you have not learnt to spread your wings, that's all. - But what are you talking about, spreading my wings? I'm a university professor, I teach at some of the greatest universities in the world. - That may well be so, but your wings are folded back. Or else someone has clipped them: it could be that inwardly you have let someone clip your wings.' If you want to feel free, released, learn to foster thoughts and feelings that will give you wings.
