Those who devote their lives to heaven should not imagine …

Those who devote their lives to heaven should not imagine that they will lead a peaceful life free of jolts and trials. No, for heaven takes care of them and is not going to abandon them to an easy, quiet, insignificant life. Those who are dedicated must know that they will be tried and tested. Their trials are not a punishment; they are intended to raise them to higher degrees of consciousness so that possibilities that would never have seen the light of day if their lives had remained safe and comfortable, might awaken, grow and flourish within them. When people work for the glory of God, the trials they experience have only one purpose: to stimulate them to transform themselves so completely that they become divinities. On the other hand, the trials of those who work in opposition to the light are corrections and punishments. Of course, they can also help them by preventing them from sinking any lower, but they are nonetheless punishments. So, the meaning of trials is not the same in each of these two cases.
