It is the impulses of their lower nature – their sensuality, ambition, and craving for power – which make human beings greedy for money. Their higher nature does not need money; it requires only light, freedom, infinity, and celestial splendour, which money cannot buy. Money is useless to the soul and the spirit, for it has never been capable of making darkness disappear. So study yourself carefully, and if you find that money means a great deal to you, know that you are in the grip of your lower nature. To escape, you must seek the light, and that means expanding your consciousness, your love of God. In seeking the light, you already possess gold – yes! – gold in the spiritual banks. And thanks to this gold you can buy all you desire, the very best in the heavenly shops.
