Marriage is not just a human institution; it is a cosmic reality. For true marriage is that of spirit and matter. The whole of creation arises from this union. Each atom is the fruit of the marriage of spirit (energy) and matter. When the husband and wife are separated, as in nuclear fission, this separation pulverizes everything: the husband is furious and destroys his wife. When they are united, they live in peace and they create, but when they are separated by force they produce explosions. Energy must unite with matter in order to fashion it, give it form. And as it’s always the same original model that’s reproduced exactly in a multitude of different guises throughout creation, all we see are marriages both in nature and in human societies.
