High Ideal - by putting ourselves at its service, we draw upon ourselves every blessing

By putting yourself at the service of a high ideal, you draw upon yourself every possible blessing. This is the meaning of Jesus’ words, ‘But first seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’ Anything you might wish for in addition to this ideal—the Kingdom of God and his righteousness—that is, other than light, love, generosity and brotherhood, can only weigh you down, impoverish you, and make your life more and more difficult. You may be satisfied for a little while perhaps, because you will savour certain pleasures and achieve some personal success, but eventually you will have to pay dearly for these moments of satisfaction. This is why we can say that Jesus’ words, ‘But first seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well’, are the absolute quintessence of Initiatic Science.*
