Act of creating - it is in then that human beings experience the greatest joys

It is in the act of creating that human beings experience the greatest joy, because it is then that they come closest to the very essence of God. God creates, and human beings, who are made in His image, are also creators. Of course there is no comparison between the creations of human beings and those of God, but it does not matter, in principle there is no difference: like God, human beings are creators. And since the greatest happiness is to create, it is therefore given to artists to taste the greatest happiness. ‘What about mystics and scholars?’ you might ask. To the extent that scholars and mystics are creators, they too can, of course, be as happy as artists. You may argue that you have known many unhappy artists. Yes, but you must understand that when we speak of the happiness of artists, it means that while they are creating, in the very act of creation, they are truly happy. And ‘artist’, can be taken to mean any human being in the process of creating.
