Keep alert - be conscious of what is going on within you and choose the path of goodness
The Gospels tell us: ‘Keep alert. Like a roaring lion, the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.’ For a disciple, to keep alert means to observe and analyze oneself, to recognize the nature of the thoughts and feelings circulating within, so as to accept the good, and reject and take precautions against the bad. Just as we are exposed to certain dangers in the physical world, we cannot expect to go through life without being exposed to the dangers of the psychic world. The war between good and evil, light and darkness, life and death, has existed since time immemorial. So, it is up to you, as disciples, to be conscious and awake in order to see what is going on within you, what kinds of forces are manifesting themselves, in what direction they want to lead you, and to always choose the path of goodness, light and life.
